Do you like a podcast? An informative one about cognitive analytic therapy (CAT) is available through The Thinking Mind: Psychiatry and Psychotherapy podcast series.
An interview with CAT Psychotherapist, Supervisor and Trainer Hilary Beard was published by Dr Alex Curmi in November last year. In this 39 minute feature, Dr Curmi sets out the common dichotomy between therapies that focus on day-to-day practicalities and those which have more focus on depth and early experience. He shares how cognitive analytic therapy helps to integrate these different aspects, and goes on to ask Hilary more about its early development and present applications.
Hilary worked closely with Dr Anthony Ryle in CAT's early stages and was a founder member and past chair of ACAT. She continues to co-lead the UKCP-accredited CAT Psychotherapist Training Course (IRRAPT) in addition to her NHS role with South London and Maudsley NHS Trust. Hilary has much to share about the model and makes the most of this opportunity to inform and educate about CAT concepts.
